Things I wish I knew when I were a freshmen at Rutgers University.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
It may sound cliche, but you are not alone. There are more people feeling like this than you think. Before I started at Rutgers, I started to see that the people I called “friends” weren’t actually my friends. I was so excited to get away from my hometown and start over. I wanted to meet new people and make real relationships. Personally, I found that the friends I made in high school were only there to let you realize what a true friend is when one comes around. I can easily say at Rutgers that I have made amazing friends. Friends that legitimately care what happens to you. I can’t really say that about the people from home. In three years time, I went from having about 15 close girl friends to 2 that I keep in touch with. Only one of these two do I actually trust. It’s sad, isn’t it? You realize when you come to college, what friendship is really worth. Do you really want to tell someone’s secret or talk about someone behind their back? What’s the point? There isn’t one. The drama, for most, is gone when college comes around.
I truly hope that cfsparta92 finds what he/she is looking for here at Rutgers. I wasn’t even sure what I was looking for when I came here, but I found a home.
Just be yourself, and try to meet as many people as you can. You’ve had enough experience determining who is worth your time.
Good luck this upcoming year!
If anyone ever would like to talk/vent/ask question, I’d be more than happy to help!

Everything is just falling apart around me. But in reality, the falling apart is happening within me. I’m lashing out at everyone because I can’t stand the person I am. I’m constantly seeking self-validation because I couldn’t find it from anyone else. I wasted three years of high school trying to…
Today, I was walking home from my summer class and there were all these people waiting around to take their placement tests. (You can usually tell it’s a placement test day because there’re about 15 people standing in front of the map kiosk trying to find various buildings.) I was in a helpful mood so I decided to ask this lady if she needed some help. She started asking me a few questions, and I realized, as an incoming senior, how much I know about Rutgers now. So i am writing this blog to help out who ever needs it and wants to find out some info it took me 3 years to learn.
